Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Sona (“Sona,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Sona mobile application and related services (the “Service”).
1. Information We Collect
Account and profile information
We collect information you provide, such as your email address, nickname, avatar, birthday, gender, country or region, biography, interests, and account identifiers. Passwords are processed for authentication and are not displayed to other users.
Content and communications
We process content you create or share, including posts, comments, votes, room topics, reports, feedback, private messages, images, and gift activity. Voice-room audio is transmitted in real time to provide the room experience. Safety-related records may be processed to investigate abuse and enforce our rules.
Device, technical, and usage information
We may collect device identifiers, app version, operating system, IP address, timestamps, network and diagnostic information, feature interactions, room participation, microphone or seat state, and security events. We use a device identifier to maintain sessions, protect accounts, and prevent abuse.
Purchases
When you buy digital items, Apple App Store or Google Play processes your payment. We receive product, order, transaction, and verification information needed to validate the purchase and credit your account. We do not receive your full payment-card number.
Permissions and media
Microphone access is requested when you choose to speak in a voice room. Camera or photo-library access is requested when you choose to capture or select an image. Denying permission limits only the feature that requires it. Sona does not collect precise location data through a location permission.
2. How We Use Information
- Provide accounts, profiles, voice rooms, posts, comments, chat, social connections, rankings, tasks, gifts, and purchases.
- Authenticate users, maintain sessions, deliver messages, and synchronize activity across devices.
- Moderate user-generated content; receive reports; block abusive users; investigate fraud, harassment, and security incidents.
- Provide support, respond to feedback, troubleshoot errors, and improve reliability and accessibility.
- Comply with law, enforce our Terms, and protect users, Sona, and the public.
We do not sell personal information.
3. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to operate the Service, including with cloud hosting and storage providers; Agora for real-time voice services; NetEase YunXin/NIM for messaging and chatroom services; Apple and Google for in-app purchases; and vendors supporting security, delivery, and customer service. Public profile information and content you post may be visible to other users. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect safety and rights, or in connection with a corporate transaction.
Service providers are authorized to process information only for the services they provide and are expected to protect it appropriately.
4. Retention and Deletion
We retain information while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. Retention periods depend on the data and purpose. Account and content data is deleted or de-identified following a valid deletion request, subject to limited retention required for legal obligations, payment records, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, safety enforcement, and security. Backup copies may persist temporarily until overwritten through normal cycles.
To request deletion, access, correction, or export, use Mine → Help & Feedback → Feedback in the app. We may verify your identity before acting on a request.
5. Your Choices and Rights
You can edit profile information in the app, control camera/photo/microphone permissions in system settings, unfollow or block users, delete content where the feature is available, and request account or data deletion. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a copy of personal information, and to appeal a denied request.
6. Security and International Processing
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted transport and protected credential storage. No system is completely secure. Because the Service and its providers may operate internationally, information may be processed in countries other than your own, with protections required by applicable law.
7. Children
Sona is intended for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has provided information, contact us through the Support process so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.
8. Changes
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the Service, law, or our practices. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when required.
9. Contact
